Welcome to my project about politics and persuasion. In this github repository, there is analysis on words used by politicians in different settings to find if there is a difference between Republican and Democratic use of "hot topic" words. These hot topic words are used to support their own stances by hitting audiences with words that have heavy emphasis. Additionally, the analysis presented also differentiates between different "modes" of persuasive text, and how that might influence the use of rhetoric.
The data found in this notebook can be found in six places:
- Project Plan - This is where my updated project idea is located, as well as the original plan.
- Progress Report - Three progress reports of updates while working on the project.
- Presentation - The presentation slides of the project that I presented for my data science course.
- License - License for the project.
- Data Samples - This folder includes samples of data that I did not want to fully push to github. It contains RNC and DNC samples as well as another link to the kaggle pages.
- Data - This folder contains data that I fully was able to push to github. It contains the debates.
- Data Plan Notebook - This is where I cleaned up all three modes of text and saved to csvs.
- Analysis Notebooks Folder:
- Images - Folder for the saved png plots in the analysis.
- Final Report - This is my final report for the project that includes my takeaways and final thoughts.
