FAQ: Action Required!
You are receiving the 'Action Required' popup because you are utilizing a subscribed application builder and have administrative permissions within the tenant.
We are preparing to release Application Builder 2.0 in enterprise/management tenant, and this update introduces substantial changes that will directly affect your apps, especially if you are using custom/runtime widgets.
It is crucial to highlight that the introduction of the Micro-Frontend framework in Cumulocity 10.16 brings a change to the widget architecture. In Application Builder 2.0, all existing widgets have been converted into plugins and are available for use within this framework. However, this means that your existing widgets, which are not converted into plugins, will no longer function as expected. As a result, there is a possibility of your applications breaking or encountering compatibility issues. Therefore, it is crucial that you install Application Builder 1.3.4 locally to ensure the continued functionality and stability of your applications.
Upon clicking the "Install Now" button, the system will commence the installation of Application Builder 1.3.4. This version will be installed on your tenant, and all your widgets will be linked to this instance of Application Builder. As a result, your existing apps will continue to function as they currently do, without any impact or disruption. You may need to clear browser cache if your widgets are not loading post installation.
Furthermore, the installation of Application Builder 1.3.4 will provide you with the added benefit of accessing a seamless upgrade functionality. This means that you will have the option to upgrade to Application Builder 2.0. This upgrade process will be streamlined and designed to facilitate a smooth transition from the previous version to the new one.
By leveraging the seamless upgrade functionality, you will have the opportunity to migrate your apps from Application Builder 1.3.4 to the advanced features and improvements offered by Application Builder 2.0. This ensures that you can take advantage of the enhanced capabilities while minimizing any potential disruption to your existing applications. Please refer When should you upgrade for more detail.
In Application Builder 2.0, all existing widgets have been converted into plugins and are available for use within this framework. However, this means that if you are currently using custom/runtime widgets in your applications and choose not to install Application Builder 1.3.4 locally, it's important to be aware that these widgets will cease to function as soon as the Management/Enterprise tenant is upgraded to Application Builder 2.0. The new version is micro-frontend based and support plugins.
To ensure the continued smooth operation of your apps and avoid any disruptions, it is highly recommended that you install Application Builder 1.3.4 locally. This will allow you to maintain the functionality of your custom/runtime widgets.
How can I upgrade future version of Application Builder after installing Application Builder locally?
