When performing a checksum_histogram if $ids_range['max_range'] was PHP_INT_MAX the addition of 1 and comparison at the end was creating an infinite loop n the do_while clause.

Proposed changes:

  • If the $ids_range['max_range'] is PHP_INT_MAX, ensure we break the loop since we have checked the highest id in the table.

Other information:

  • Have you written new tests for your changes, if applicable?
  • Have you checked the E2E test CI results, and verified that your changes do not break them?
  • Have you tested your changes on WordPress.com, if applicable (if so, you'll see a generated comment below with a script to run)?

Jetpack product discussion

Does this pull request change what data or activity we track or use?

Testing instructions:

  • This can be tested in the remote site by manually adding a post in the DB with PHP_INT_MAX, but since it is already happening in wpcom as well for some sites, I'll add details on how to test in https://github.com/Automattic/vulcan/issues/579
