Single Player
Please Note: Yes, Overthrow will work in Single Player and we will continue to support it. However you will be at a slight disadvantage as most of the balance is centered around small groups of 4-6 online.
That said, if you like a challenge or just prefer solo play then it's super easy to do.
Click the big "Overthrow" button you can see in the middle of the screen when Arma opens.
Then expand the "Overthrow" campaign, select a map and click continue. If you want to change difficulty options etc click on "Game options" to the left first.
After a loading screen you will see a map, just click continue, and then "New Game".
When using the default save in Arma 3, you may find that your UI disappears or the 'Y' key stops working after you load. For this reason we recommend that you use our "persistent save" option. To save your game go to the map in your home and use your mouse scroll wheel to select "Options".
Then click on "persistent save".
To load a persistent save, restart the mission again to get the main menu and choose "Load Persistent Save". When you are finished playing just select "Save & Exit" as you would normally, then when you want to continue from the Arma 3 main menu just click "Revert".
We understand that the default Arma save system can be very tempting in Single Player, so if you do use it don't worry most systems will still operate normally after a load, but we recommend hitting the "persistent save" button asap to ensure progress is not lost, and you can get your UI and 'Y' key functions back using the "Reset UI" option on the Tanoa map.
If you decide that you want to play your save with some friends that is no problem (with just one drawback). Simply start a game in MP normally (see Co-Op) and choose "Load persistent save". Your single player character will be different to your MP character, but everything else will be the same and you will be able to access any ammoboxes you had in SP etc. For the foreseeable future this will remain, as we believe it's more fun to start on an even playing field with your friends if you move to co-op. We are open to some ideas for transfer of liquid and real estate assets though.
