Design Discussion

This issue presents a place for a unified design discussion for achieving I/O interpoperability with VST, AU, and LADSPA.

As in the ioval project, I'd like to propose we use branches of a skeleton-only plugx repository to present code ideas.

For Apple AU, I would like to note that the sio package has some code interfaces AUHAL, which can provide a start for interfacing with an arbitrary AU.

Ideas, problematics, sketches, more detailed requirements, links to relevant other projects, etc welcome on this issue to help inform and drive the design.
