As some features are hard or troublesome to add in the current UI framework, I'm rewriting the UI in Jetpack Compose (and also learning). Once the migration is usable, I'll open a branch for you to try. There's no ETA, and the migration may take a long time, please be patient.🙂

Update:
I'm making the top bar design to achieve the following:

1. Better search UI/UX: Currently, you need to be in the home tab to search online and other tabs to search local. That's not a good UX, and I want to switch online/local by one button in the same search screen.
2. Better artist page: immersive artist banner
3. Switching between normal mode and action mode

The design will resemble the toolbar in Gmail app. If you have a better design or idea, please comment below.

Also, I'm time-constrained recently, so the migration process may take a long time...

I always use the library section and add to library but if u do it sync by sync that won't be a issue because whatever syncs that I don't want I can just remove

I think I would usually "import playlist," because I like being able to edit the list in-app, but people who rely on online playlists (ones that get updated on YouTube) probably "add to library" more often? Either way, when I add songs/albums/etc to library it's partly just to create a convenient shortcut to them, because I'll forget the music that I could listen to if it's not right in front of my face.

It's a button to delete all songs from the playlist and import again.

Finally, branch compose is out! Sorry to keep you waiting so long. Please give it a try and report bugs in issues. Remember to make backup when changing version! However, it will still take some time to make it stable.

It's hard to determine which playlists to be shown in the screen, and I find YouTube's home playlists not helpful for me. Therefore, not planned.

It actually surprised me how performant the app continues to be, even with Compose! I haven't noticed laggy or slow animations, compared to other apps I use that also migrated to Compose. You're doing such a great job! Keep it up!

@z-huang I was thinking maybe you could make the icons centre with the titles underneath and maybe add a option to remove the name of each 3 buttons and use just the icons.

The semester finally passed, and I’ll continue the development of this project. After being absent for a few months, I got a different goal on this project: It isn’t aimed to be as powerful as possible. It should be minimal but useful, with all must-need features. Therefore, some “advanced” feature request will either be labeled as “contribution only” or be closed as not planned (don’t be angry). I’ll go through all issues and reconsider whether it’s too “advanced” or not. Some decisions will be changed, and I apologize for that. After all, I don’t have infinite time on this project and I will only focus on what’s most important.

During these days, I got many issues. I’m so thankful that you tell me the bugs and suggest new features. However, some issues aren’t following the form. Just pasting the error message without any explanation isn’t helpful at all. You know that there is a checklist in the issue form, and I hope that you check these things carefully before ticking the checkbox. Failing to do so will waste my time, slow down the development, and eventually delay the release of new version.

Very good, but don't leave out the important and "advanced" functions, mainly related to downloading, lyrics, widgets, in short, this type of detail makes all the difference so that this application remains the best of all music apps. The quick pics seem good and more personalised than 0.4.4. Sure not as specific as Spotify, but honestly I'm impressed in comparison to all other ''privacy respecting'' streaming apps. Did a good job I'd say

Here are some suggestions:

• Better animations when you open the player, like in 0.4.1
• circumvent age restrictions as there is no way of signing in to proof that you're 18+, this already worked in 0.3.3 and earlier when it was still using NewPipe Extractor.
• Make the navbar always show like in non-compose versions

Apart from that I really have no idea on what could be improved as it's already a great app. Thank you for putting so much effort into the app, for me it's already better than Spotify and the only thing that keeps me using Apple Music is the second point.

I think it's time to release 0.5.0. Other enhancements will be added in later versions. You can try this stable build: app-release.apk.zip (Remove the .zip suffix and install). If you find any bugs, please create an issue. Also, is the performance good enough in stable builds?

I found some issues/bugs in update 0.5.0:

1 - Shuffer button in the music tab should disappear when scrolling to the end of the page (to release the "three dots button" of the last song).

2 - Should have a option to search for specific songs within the selected playlist tab.

3 - Multiselection of songs within a playlist or in the music tab is no longer available.

As for the issue of instability and fluidity, it's very good, and the new visuals are incredible.

Liking a song and adding a song to library should be merged into one. There is never a time that I want to Like a song (adding it to Liked Songs playlist) but not add it to my library, and vice versa.

I think this will make the app easier to understand and to use, as currently if I want to properly "Like" a song like in other apps I have to press both the Like button and the Add To Library button.

If this is done, I believe the Songs screen could simply be for Liked Songs, and the "Liked Songs" playlist is just shown in the songs screen instead of in the playlists screen (or it could be in both).

the solution to ur problem is only to introduce the behaviour of adding the song to library simultaneously as u like it.
merging liked songs with add to library is not a good idea.
keeping them seperated enables better organisation of songs. library has music of ur taste and liked songs contains the absolutely loved ones.
auto-add to library when clicking the heart it is.

I understand your point, but I believe it just makes it confusing. Even with your suggestion, users will be a bit confused as to why 'Liking' a song boths adds the song to library and to Liked Playlist, whereas 'Adding to Library' only adds to library (the latter makes sense, but the difference in what they do is confusing as there is an overlap in functionality for two different buttons)

Your point is a good one, but that can already be achieved with playlists - if users want to have songs that they absolutely love, they can put those songs in a playlist they create. And then any song that they listen to and they like can just be 'Liked'. There is no need for an 'Add to Library' button, it just makes users confused (like myself and friends who have tried the app).
