I would like to use Meld on my work computer. My employer has put something called "BeyondTrust Privilege Management for MacOS" on the computer which controls installation of applications. This means I cannot just drag the applications to the Applications folder like normal. Applications which supports this feature show a little padlock icon on the application.

Screenshot shows "MacVim" to the right for comparison. Right clicking applications that supports this feature gives the choice to "Install with Privilege Management" as below:

This menu option properly installs the application.

As can be seen in the first screenshot, Meld does not show such a "padlock overlay" on the icon, and does not give the option to install. Dragging the icon to Applications will prompt for an admin account and password, which I cannot get past

I would be very grateful if you could investigate adding support for this type of installation to Meld. I am sure this is not specific for "BeyondTrust", and might help many users

You've got this backwards: this is not about apps not supporting something. This is your employer actively allowing or blocking applications on your machine with the help of an endpoint protection solution. You need to talk to your IT department and request that they allow Meld. MacVim is already on their allowlist and that is why that padlock badge is shown.
