Certain OS XVDs of type Dynamic do not seem to follow a predictable layout. Most specifically, their Dynamic Header (a.k.a. BAT) region has a high entropy and does not look like a BAT at all. Attempts at parsing it as such yield nonsense.

Examples of these XVDs are:

  • era.xvd
  • gamecore.xvd
  • fr-fr.xvd (language packs from updates)
  • And probably a bunch of others
