i installed the xstation as my disc drive quit but i ran into an issue within the speedrun community where the game loads too fast to be valid. is there any way to slow the load speeds to be more like disc read speeds?

Hey,
the topic came up before, and it comes down to an ODE equipped PSX simply being too different for these kinds of contests.
I could slow certain things down, but hitting perfectly standard PSX timings isn't really viable, mostly because each drive is so different.
What your community needs is time taking tools that can remove all load times from the results.
This is 100% necessary, because otherwise someone with a lucky drive will have an advantage by default.
Level load times in certain games (lots of seeks) vary considerably, depending on the drive, whether a CD-R is used (bad!) or the condition of an original.
30 seconds loading in one setup might then just be 15 seconds on another, and this is with all original gear..
Furthermore, a PS2 should never be allowed against a PSX. I see that quite often, and this is like a 2x overclocked PSX with a turbo drive, versus any random PSX performance ;p
