[Security & Law] Remove contact... etc #256
Comments
Hi @TehAppKiller , Thanks for your writing this up. You say "not to be able to revoke someone certificate from your access". In Wire there are no user-to-user certificates, only connections. The only thing that a connection does is to allow that person to write you messages in the 1:1 chat and add you to a group chat. Wire has the feature to block a contact. If blocked, that person won't be able to write you messages anymore in 1:1 chat or add you to group chats anymore. Can you elaborate what you had in mind with "revoke [...] access"? Is your concern that the person is still visible in the application, even if they can't interact with you anymore? |
@marcoconti83 above mention law, gdpr he probably think as why not erase almost data By the way im going to reference this with others #206 for have nice issue list ;) |
This is important. I want to remove the contact completely from my account. I can either archive, or block. I just want to remove the contact from my account, leaving no traces. Both archiving and blocking still keeps the contact attached to your account. Worth noting is if you block a contacts and forget the names, you can't even find out which contact are still attached to your account. Presumably there is a list of blocked contacts for each user, there's no way to see. |
Hello,
About not being able to remove (completely) a contact from your list
Let's be clear, we all know:
1/ This is unbelievable not to be able to this most basic feature in that kind of app
2/ That's a huge security flaw not to be able to revoke someone certificate from your access
--> Should not be a "Feature" but a "Critical issue"
--> Should clearly prevent (unlightened) users to install this app
Now,
I know that would be bad for that kind of app "business",
but why not being clear with people,
and explain that interpretation/beliefs of the Law is the cause of this thing
even with GPDR.
Thanks.
