Keep the same custom url protocol mechanism of chromium 126 kernel and avoid the new custom url of chrome 131 to be able to preview m3u8 hls video with media player and make Supermium the best Browser in the world!

hI? It's strange, I thought I had talked about this topic but I can't find an issue on this crucial topic....

in short I think I've already told about the problem of chromium 131 kernel which destroys preview compatibility with media players and we can no longer send embeded streaming videos and preview m3u8 hls video with potplayer or vlc using Cat catch and Open in vlc extensions !

let's note Mr Andy the developer of Open-in vlc added recently following my request an initial support for potplayer and qmplay2.....

i send to potplayer message about this problem and potplayer respond me the problem is fixed in the new beta version....

but even with the new stable version of potplayer supposed to have fixed the problem, I can no longer preview with potplayer and vlc using catsxp browser, also i can't preview with chrome for windows 7 GOOGLE_CHROME_Windows_7....just one time i succeded to preview with potplayer wiht chromium 131 and after that, preview doesn't work anymore....

the developers of the extensions deny that the problem is caused by the extensions and say the problem is caused by the media players, I contacted vlc and ptplayer, a member of vlc told me the problem is caused by the extensions but I brought him the evidence that the problem is caused by vlc and he seems to have accepted my opinion, potplayer told me the problem is fixed with the beta version, recently the stable version of potplayer was released and I tested preview video in catsxp which uses chromium 131 and preview worked once then it doesn't work anymore.....

hope is in Supermium, preview with potplayer and cat catch works in Supermium!

so new chromium broke the custom url protocol mechanism and we hope please Supermium will keep the same mechanism of the custom url please to allow us to preview videos with media player because sometimes, some high quality video lags jerks due to low cpu and preview solves the problem, thanks!

Since Potplayer is so popular and beautiful and powerful, the developer of the Open-in-vlc extension recently added initial support for Potplayer in a new commit at my request:

About the preview issues with media players, the developer of Open-in-vlc told me:

"You can get a non-functional M3U8 link from this extension (or any other extensions) and then use VLC Player's "Open Network Stream" feature to load the M3U8. If it doesn't work, the problem lies with VLC; if it does work, then the issue is with the extension."

and the developers of Cat catch and Open in vlc told me that the problem for preview videos with media players like Potplayer and Vlc is not due to their extensions but the problem is related to the media players!

let's note interesting thing : preview with cat catch extension and Potplayer works in Supermium browser based on chromium 126 LTS, but preview with Cat catch and Potplayer doesn't work in web browsers based on the new chromium kernel 131, or works only once and then doesn't work anymore sadly :(

(we should add this command to preview cat catch settings in potplayer section to play some specific videos : potplayer://${url} /referer="${referer}" )

there is not such problem of preview with potplayer and cat catch in firefox, so it is technically possible to preview streaming videos with Potplayer in Firefox but not in recent chrome, we hope please this problem of preview with Potplayer will be solved with the recent chromium kernel, thank you very much!"
