nvm/volta mason doesn't find npm and node

Is this fixable? I'm almost always using something like nvm. But Mason doesn't seem to be able to find them. #166 is the closest issue I could find but the comments are too complex for my understanding. I simply want to know the following: How do I make Mason work with nvm/volta? Or if Mason can't work with nvm/volta, then what am I supposed to do if I need to work with both Mason and nvm/volta?

I think I have the same problem, this is the log file error I currently get:

I don't think I can easily move away from nvm at the moment, and I would love to work with mason, which is a great and helpful tool.
