Combining several runs with two different inplanes #351

Dear all,

In our experiment, we present drifting bar stimuli for pRF modelling to subjects.
For one subject, we scanned 3 drifting bar runs with one inplane scan for three different conditions (overall 9 runs with 3 inplanes). At the end of the scan, We discovered that the subject had moved significantly in 2 runs out of three in one condition, so, we ran again this two runs along with another inplane. Thus, for this condition we got three good (without movements) runs but with two different inplanes.
How should we combine these two sessions?
In the mrVista Gray window we found an import tSeries option (Xform > Other Session->This Session > Import tSeries only).
Could we simply import the tSeries of one session into the other?

Thank you

Hi

I realise this is a year late, but I just came across the post so wanted to add some pointers in case anyone else stumbles across it looking for help.

First set up a session for each set of scans that will use the same inplane (a more typical case would be if a subject did a set of scans on two different days), go through the mrInit process and create your gray view for each 'day'(/group) of scanning (this last step is important as you can only combine gray view tseries). Then create a new session folder for your combined session, navigate into that folder and run:

createCombinedSession

This will prompt you to select the sessions that you wish to combine, and once that is done you need to run:

importTseries

And follow the prompts to select the relevant data type and scans for each session in turn - i.e. you will run importTseries for each session that you are combining. Once that's done you can continue using mrVista as normal.

Although, (in my experience) you can't create flat map unfolds from a combined session, so you would need to do that from one of the sessions that you combined, and then install those unfolds in your combined session if you need them.

Hope that helps!
Lauren

p.s. the method you mention of importing into an already open session probably will also work, but from experience I find it easier to keep track of what is going on if there is a separate session with all the combined scans. :-)
