We usually accept support for new desktop environments as pull requests to the shell scripts in https://github.com/varietywalls/variety/tree/master/data/scripts

The basic requirements are:

• the DE needs to offer some way to configure the wallpaper programmatically
• the DE should have some way to identify that it's running, e.g. by setting the XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP env var
