"Local rules" adapt maps to specific context #3

Brainstorming about the concept of creating local rules that influence the way a given city's routes are represented. For example, general complexity and type of street grid could influence a diagrammatic grid on which route lines are drawn.

Potential local rules:

  • stop / station hierarchy
  • primary routes hierarchy, also typology of service
  • urban density scaling... Grid adapts to more dense parts of the city
  • key service directions (ie in and out of urban core, circulating city...)

When routes can be combined / primary thoroughfares
This one is interesting because a sort of "dashed line" combines all the colors of the coincident routes.
