Disclaimer: I know nothing about ublue, and only about to install it soon, but I have 15 years of experience with Linux. Do you have an idea of what the exact error was when the If all you need is a valid secure boot partition, you can install any other modern distro, like a standard Fedora or OpenSuse, and install that. However, my hunch is that the Dell recovery actually needs the recovery partition not just a secure boot partition. |

The XPS came with supported ubuntu 20.04; not what I was looking for. Updated it to 22.04 but Dell/Intel didn't have builtin camera support. (!!) So I thought I'd try ublue-os, start with main, then update to the developer experience build. (I'd tested same on different machine running it under Windows w/ Virtualbox, to good effect) Made sure I had bootable dell recovery usb.
While attempting install, get "The following error occurred while installing the payload. This is a fatal error and installation will be aborted.
The comand 'ostree container image deploy --sysroot=/mnt/sysimage --image=ghcr.io/ublue-os/silverblue-main:38 --no-signature-verification' exited with the code 1.
Now I'm stuck. Cannot even install from the dell recovery usb I think because it wants UEFI secure boot and since this install wiped the old file system, doesn't have the keys etc.
I assume that if I can figure out how to clear the history from the TPM for UEFI I might be able to move forward and still see if I can get universal-blue loaded.
Anyone have hints or experience with this?
Most of the docs at Dell and online google and youtube seem to assume I'd start with a Windows install. Nope.
Some say that I might be able to get into BIOS and tell it to clear TPM. Greyed out.
I may have to take part of a day off from my real job, and see if I can get any documentation/support from Dell since even the dell recovery usb is not working. Right now I have a very expensive noncomputing brick.
