If every element with a data-active-during attribute fired an event when it became active and again when it was inactive, then it would be really easy to do very dynamic things with web video. While it would require JS knowledge, it at least wouldn't require learning the Popcorn API, and one could easily use their favorite JS library (jQuery, etc) to define their own event handlers.
