Regional teams want to embed this map in a homepage, locking the map view to a set area and making sure all events from that area appear on the map and disallowing any other location searches.
I'll set up an example page with this map embedded in an iframe shortly. But here are the features I can imagine needing:
Set the viewable rectangle for a map
Set the (base search zip?) for events on the map
Hide the search box from users

Can you make it clear why it is important to "lock" the map and disallow other location searches?
It appears to me (playing with the map) that 1) you can embed the zipcode in the URL which would allow the map to open up first time in the right zipcode and 2) the map automatically zooms to a reasonable size once it has a zipcode. So just embedding the map with a URL set to the appropriate zipcode would seem to be a pretty good MVP already. Have we suggested doing that?
