resize avatar

Expected behavior

When i upload a picture, i expect the picture to be the size of the canvas, being able to blow it up a little but not extreme. The avatar can never scale smaller than the cropped area.

Actual behavior

the uploaded picture is very large when uploaded, the resize slider makes it too small too fast

Steps to reproduce the problem

I think a couple more things feel wrong with the avatar.

  • Visually the page is not inviting
  • The textlink is "choose another file" is unneccessary, because you already initiated that you want to change the avatar. (If you just want the cropping done different you should upload the picture again anyway, because if you try doing that now, the result is not good, weird resolution and the weird blue circle on it from the first cropping).

I made a new userflow (ànd a new design) which I think fixes these things. The userflow goes like this:

  • 1: the user taps the upload-icon because he wants to upload a new avatar
  • 2: the user sees (still on route /myprofile/) the file-browser input thingy presented by the browser and selects the new img he wants to upload
  • 3: the view now changes to /resize-avatar/ where the new uploaded picture is presented (NEW DESIGN). The user is now able to resize or rotate the img. When he taps the black X-mark, the action is aborted and the view changes back to where the action was initiated. When the white button with blue Vmark is tapped, the user confirms his new avatar and the view changes to /my-profile/ with the new avatar.

In consent with @hershkoy and @kikipluche we decided to see this new design as an iteration, thus not a current priority. The priorities (to do by @hershkoy) on /resize-avatar/ at this moment will be:

The new design will be moved to a seperate issue, to be viewed as an iteration, possibly an open bounty even.
