Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Members are unable to automatically receive updates of new vacancies on the site. It would be nice if members could subscribe to vacancy categories so they automatically receive an email when a new vacancy in one of their subscribed categories is added.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • Add a subscribe button next to categories to which the member is not subscribed.
  • Add an unsubscribe button to the categories that the member is subscribed to.
  • When a new vacancy is added to the site, send an email to all subscribed members containing a message: There is a new vacancy from <partner>: <vacancy title>. <vacancy text>. <apply>. <view on site>. <unsubscribe from vacancy category>. <unsubscribe from all vacancies>.

Motivation

We need to improve the vacancies.

Describe alternatives you've considered

First and foremost: can you please use the issue template. You are Technicie, you should know how this works.

I still think this is not a good idea. Mostly because it is a lot of work for something that the opt-in mailinglist is basically for.

Also suggested adding vacancies to the newsletter, that would be better in my opinion. Don't really feel like the RFC was a RFC if nothing is done with the comments.

Every filled vacancy is worth a lot of money to partners. I think even if only a few more vacancies get filled because of this, it's worth a lot. The opt-in mailinglist does not allow members to subscribe to specific vacancy categories and not all partners want to use the mailing list.

I am indeed considering doing this, but I'll have to work the idea out first.

So it is more from a business perspective then. That is a better motivation.

You mean how you are going to sell it? Can still be an issue on itself that gets updated or closed in the end. That's what issues are for.

Not how I'm going to sell it; I think it would be a good idea and I could make an issue already, but I'm not entirely sure on the format and I don't want anyone to spend effort on something that might still change a lot.
