  1. Edit your user defaults xml to remove the three size and position keys for a tearout, or move your xml aside so you are in blank setting
  2. Start standalone at something other than 100% zoom
  3. open a tearout like formula or mseg
  4. tear it out
  5. quit
  6. restart

when your restart the tearout will et an extra zoom (be too big if you are at 125 or whatever)

If you resize it once - so the keys write to the user prefs - it is all fine, which is why we never noticed

Moreover that restored tearout will not tear back in properly. Needs to be closed and re-opened
