We use semantic versioning. API should change only when the major version changes. We are still on v1.x.x which means that all versions should be backward compatible. (In practice, there may be inadvertently changes, but I try to correct them in patch releases.) |

Are there notes somewhere, but I didn't notice them? Maybe as in the Lua documentation (see 8.1-8.3)?
For example, I'm thinking of trying to update libheif from 1.17.6 (Xubuntu 24.04) to 1.18.2 (iOS 18, many bug fixes and smaller enhancements): will I need to rebuild GIMP, ImageMagick and so on? I don't think so (in this case), but I'm not sure.
