We are an AI company, and we are very interested in your concept of bringing IP on-chain. We are keen to explore IP development and protection within your Story Protocol framework, such as minting our AI models. However, we have some uncertainties regarding the details of the dispute module, so we would like to discuss the details with you accordingly.
First, if we encounter plagiarism or IP infringement, how will the story protocol define and penalize it? We noticed on your website that decisions are made by whitelisted addresses. Are these addresses independent observers, or are they selected based on their contributions to the Iliad chain of Story, or in other forms? Also, are there specific algorithms or rules for defining the criteria of judgement? In terms of penalties, aside from tagging and suspending the mint license, are there any financial penalties for unjust gains from the IP infringement?
Second, if we encounter an IP/patent troll that maliciously initiates a dispute, how do we protect our legal rights? From our understanding, the process would still follow the same dispute procedure initiated by the patent troll, with the whitelist addresses deciding the outcome. However, since the whitelist can only call setDisputeJudgement once, how can the party being sued be further relieved if misjudgment occurs? As IP/patent trolling is a common issue in the IP field, this could potentially cause financial and time losses for IP creators, and may even discourage derivative IP creators from using or commercializing the upstream IP content that was previously tagged for infringement.
