👋🏻 Hi! I am Avikalp Gupta, from India 🇮🇳.
I am a Computer Science 💻 graduate from IIT Kanpur (one of the top engineering institutions in India). I have previously worked as a software engineer and data scientist for Microsoft Research, a gaming startup 🚀called GetMega and a data consultancy called Fresh Gravity. But now I dedicate all my time to building open-source solutions to make the lives of other software builders easier and more fulfilling.

Work

I build developer tools 👨🏼‍💻. My tools make it easier for developers to collaborate and feel proud of their work. Some of my projects include:

1. Vibinex: A new code-review interface enriched with insights from the code's structure and history. You should try it out if you work on projects with multiple contributors.
2. Alokit Mentorship Platform: An issue tracking and compensation platform, ideal for running audition projects and paying contributors for their work on even the smallest of issues.
3. Skyline: A replacement for the GitHub Skyline project, so that developers can 3-D print their contribution calendars again.
4. Free-time: A simple time-management tool that you can use to see how much free time you have left after removing the time you have promised for your personal and professional commitments (Spoiler alert: most people have enough time left to do another full-time job).

Volunteer activities

• I have been associated with FOSS United since 2020 and actively involve myself in its activities and initiatives.
• I have been a speaker, core-team member or volunteer in GDG Bangalore, Pune and Udaipur for many of their DevFest events.
• I have organized many startup and entrepreneurship events at decent scales with the IIT Kanpur Alumni Association and Pan-IIT Alumni Association.
