Template to display image galleries form the default wp gallery as Tiled Gallery does http://demo.themepacific.com/plugin-tiled-gallery-carousel/2013/10/13/tiled-gallery-carousel-without-jetpack-wordpress-plugin/
Tiled Gallery has these templates:
grid mosaic
squared grid mosaic
rounded thumb
and I'll add:
slider

click should open a lightbox
