Hi Sebshader, My name is Daniel.

I've found you, on a post related to install GEM in PD on a 64Bit MacOS.

Im actually using a Mac Air with MacOS Sierra.
I've Installed PD-l2ork (thats the name in Applications) and downloaded your GEM zip file which is at the beginning of your post I share above.
Then, I copied the gem_videoVLC.so to GEM folder and finally linked in PD, and restart
The system recognized GEM libraries.

I would like to know if theres everything ok with my "step by step" procedure. I know I need to install VLC since no quicktime film/video support are in MacOS Sierra.

Please your kind guidance to help this man to make this App to work.

Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with pd-l2ork. As for GEM the version I don't see the link you refer to. I assume you refer to this forum post where I compiled for OSX 64-bit. https://forum.puredata.info/topic/10980/gem-for-64-bit-osx
using that procedure should work with that build I think. Is VLC working? if not, what are the errors?
I seem to remember having some issues with VLC since then (I think they may have changed their api or something)

I haven't tried it in a while with that build. since then much has changed in GEM and its dependencies I think. Mainly, GLEW multi-instance is no longer maintained. There are still many issues with GEM in 64-bit, even in vanilla pd.
one thing that sometimes works a bit is the advice in this comment: umlaeute/Gem#257 (comment)

Well, right now I'm a bit "out of the game", since I dont have a Mixer or somethign to test it out. Is there a chance to test PD +GEM (VLC mod) without a midi controller? That would be the best way to check if everything is ok.

Exactly, in that post your final writing was that the .so file was working ok.

I don't think midi should be related to GEM or VLC at all. they only have to do with video. I guess the best way would be to use the help patches to test. but like I say there are many issues with 64-bit gem currently afaik.
