Description
As PSD we need to find out how the long read team use samples extraction so we can look at providing the equivalent functionality elsewhere as this application is no longer supportable and is at risk of failure

The following outputs from the research are produced:

• meet with the sample prep team to find out what they use samples extraction for and how they use it
• Create a process diagram of the workflow
• Produced a written document which outlines recommendations and next steps

• We went through the sample extraction process.
• All they need to do is move the original tubes into Fluidx tubes, but this is not currently supported in Sequencescape. Currently they are faking the Fluidx tubes as a stock plate.
• The tube rack work the team is currently doing as technical debt could cover it (needs further investigation).
• They are creating a complex workflow for each kit in samples extraction. A quick win would be to create a simple 1 step workflow in extraction LIMS which will support 96 samples which could be used by all of Sequencing Operations. Lynda is going to put in a story. This could save up to 1 hour for each extraction.
• Ada will send me the SOP and any other documentation that they are currently using in the lab.
• They are also using it to support Biorad plates, but Lynda has said they should not be doing this and will look to change the process.
• They are not doing any re-racking. The last time was 2 years ago when Danni was using it for the DDD project.
