1)
If starting from a fresh wheezy install make sure you configure the following on first startup:
keyboard - make sure you set it to US if you have one - otherwise the pain of pound signs instead of # will ensue
locale - set to en_au_utf8
timezone - set appropriately
ssh - enable it if you're going to be running headless
2) get apt-get up to date by issuing a
$ sudo apt-get update
3) get git-core from apt-get
$ sudo apt-get install git-core
apt-get will confirm all the dependencies etc - kiss goodbye to 13-14MB
4) drag your rpi to the latest firmware using hexxeh's rpi-update tool - follow his instructions from his github: https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update
5) once rpi-update is installed give it a run
$ sudo rpi-update
6) reboot
$ sudo reboot
7) after rebooting grab python-serial
$ sudo apt-get install python-serial
8) grab DeltaPVOutput
$ git clone git://github.com/stik79/DeltaPVOutput
9) copy to /usr/local/bin
$ sudo cp DeltaPVOutput/*.py /usr/local/bin
10) Go there
$ cd /usr/local/bin
11) Edit the systemID/PVoutput key/Serial port
$ sudo nano DeltaPVOutput.py
12) give it a whirl
$ python DeltaPVOutput.py
13) If successful add to crontab in order to execute periodically
$ sudo nano /etc/crontab
add a line something like:
0/5 * * * * root python /usr/local/bin/DeltaPVOutput.py 2>&1 > /var/log/solar.log
Note the 0/5 denotes how often the script runs. If PVoutput period is set to 10 minutes - use 0/10
14) Enjoy- if your RPi no longer works I had nothing to do with it
