QUESTION: Update design to ESP32 to reduce cost, and increase performance?

Hi, since the ESP32's are so cheap now, I think updating the design to that would improve speed and price. Whats your idea on that?

This repository hasn't had a code update since 2018, and the creator hasn't made a commit on GitHub in a year, so it seems effectively dead. I just started (as in within the last few days) working on my own project that aims to do essentially the same thing as this project, but based on an ESP32-C2 module with ESP-IDF instead of Arduino. I can post a link if/when I make it public.
