Double for Codec #2
Comments
Hello, Unfortunately, I don't have written document on my codec nor I am not aware of some written by others... To give a quick presentation, the NHW Project (codec) is a new free open source wavelet-based image compression codec. It has some innovations like a new fast wavelet transform, a new multistage residual coding, a new (fast) psychovisual model that gives/preserves more neatness from image, 3 new fast and efficient entropy coding schemes,... The NHW codec is optimized for neatness of image (subjective quality) and so I find it visually more pleasant than BPG (x265, HEVC) despite having far worse PSNR, SSIM, MS-SSIM scores. The NHW codec is also royalty-free, and a lot faster to encode/decode than x265 (optimized HEVC).-Just a remark if you want to evaluate the NHW codec, the 3 new entropy coding schemes it uses are not optimal for now and we can save in average 2.5KB per .nhw compressed file.- Thank you very much again for your interest! |
added options: -q# image quality # [1-23] -f overwrite output -h help -V version check whether input files are the same
separate nhw-enc from library #2, parse options "manually"
Can you recommend the some documents of this codec exclude the code. I want to make sure whether there are some ways get the better results than bpg codec. Or have you compare the result at same bpp using other codec, for example bpg(using PSNR、SSIM、MS-SSIM).
