It is 2024, PZ no longer require it. It also causes conflicts with PZ mod loading as PZ would read the vanilla map directory and load whatever in it, this will include mods with multiple sub mods that include a legacy map mod option, thus two maps of the same cell will be loaded causing bad map rendering.
It is decades old tried and tested utility, simply more reliable in obtaining PZ PID
This lock is the whole reason why sometimes server fail to reboot. We already using pgrep to check for running instance, we don't need another check and one that is unreliable.
