This is a list of recommendations, ostensibly targeting the users of the server, many of whom are beginners. We should be explaining why these resources are good to use, not just listing a resources and then saying the title of it or the identity of the author are all you need to know before picking something up.

  • C++ Primer Plus is definitely C++ Primer but Plus, right?
  • People use Google Allo over Discord because Google Allo is branded by Google, right?

Honestly, although it is not the ideal for a recommendations list, a blank explanation is better than one that says that it should be obvious why someone would want to read it. I think this should be in the contributing guidelines.
