abstract={SNO+ will search for neutrinoless double beta decay by loading 780 tonnes of linear alkylbenzene liquid scintillator with O(tonne) of neodymium. Using natural Nd at 0.1\% loading will provide 43.7 kg of 150 Nd given its 5.6\% abundance and allow the experiment to reach a sensitivity to the effective neutrino mass of 100-200 meV at 90\% C.L in a 3 year run. The SNO+ detector has ultra low backgrounds with 7000 tonnes of water shielding and self-shielding of the scintillator. Distillation and several other purification techniques will be used with the aim of achieving Borexino levels of backgrounds. The experiment is fully funded and data taking with light-water will commence in 2012 with scintillator data following in 2013.}

SuperNEMO can study a range of isotopes, but the baseline isotope is 82 Se. The total isotope mass will be 100-200 kg. A sensitivity to a 0 v ββ half-life greater than 10 26 years can be reached which gives access to Majorana neutrino masses of 50-100 meV. Having successfully completed R\&D stage the SuperNEMO Collaboration has commenced the construction of the first module, the Demonstrator. The present status of SuperNEMO program and plan for the nearest future are discussed.}

abstract={The observation of neutrino less double-beta decay would show that neutrinos are Majorana particles and provide information on neutrino mass. Attaining sensitivities for neutrino masses in the inverted hierarchy region requires large, tonne scale detectors with extremely low backgrounds, at the level of 10 −3 counts keV −1 t −1 y −1 or lower in the region of the signal. The MAJORANA collaboration is constructing the DEMONSTRATOR, an array consisting of 40 kg of p-type point contact germanium detectors, at least half of which will be enriched to 86\% in 76 Ge. The primary aim is to show the feasibility for a future tonne scale measurement. With a sub-keV energy threshold, the array should also be able to search for light WIMP dark matter. This paper presents a brief update on the status of constructing the DEMONSTRATOR including an electroforming facility that is now operating underground at the Sanford Underground Research Facility.}

It will probe the neutrinoless double beta decay (0 v DBD) of 130 Te, testing the neutrino nature and mass at the level relevant for exploring the inverted neutrino mass hierarchy. On the road towards CUORE, a first tower named CUORE-0, is being assembled and will be operated as an independent experiment in 2012. abstract={In this Technical Design Report (TDR) we describe the NEXT-100 detector that will search for neutrinoless double beta decay (ββ0ν) in 136 XE at the Laboratorio Subterráneo de Canfranc (LSC), in Spain. The document formalizes the design presented in our Conceptual Design Report (CDR): an electroluminescence time projection chamber, with separate readout planes for calorimetry and tracking, located, respectively, behind cathode and anode. The detector is designed to hold a maximum of about 150 kg of xenon at 15 bar, or 100 kg at 10 bar. This option builds in the capability to increase the total isotope mass by 50\% while keeping the operating pressure at a manageable level. The readout plane performing the energy measurement is composed of Hamamatsu R11410-10 photomultipliers, specially designed for operation in low-background, xenon-based detectors. Each individual PMT will be isolated from the gas by an individual, pressure resistant enclosure and will be coupled to the sensitive volume through a sapphire window. The tracking plane consists in an array of Hamamatsu S10362-11-050P MPPCs used as tracking pixels. They will be arranged in square boards holding 64 sensors (8 × 8) with a 1-cm pitch. The inner walls of the TPC, the sapphire windows and the boards holding the MPPCs will be coated with tetraphenyl butadiene (TPB), a wavelength shifter, to improve the light collection.}

abstract={CANDLES is the project to search for double beta decay (DBD) of 48 Ca by using CaF 2 scintillators. The Q -value of 48 Ca, which is the highest (4.27 MeV) among potential DBD nuclei, is far above energies of γ-rays from natural radioactivities (maximum 2.615 MeV from 208 Tl decay), therefore we can naturally expect small backgrounds in the energy region we are interested in. We have constructed the prototype detector, CANDLES III in our laboratory (Osaka U.) at sea level and studied the basic performance of the system, including the light collection, position reconstruction and background rejection. After R\&D study we moved the detector system to new experimental room at Kamioka underground laboratory. Herein the expected performances and current status of the CANDLES system are described.}

The aim of the experiment is to search for the neutrinoless double beta decay and investigate the two-neutrino double beta decay in seven different isotopes ( 100 Mo , 82 Se , 116 Cd , 150 Nd , 96 Zr , 48 Ca and 130 Te ). After analysis of the most part of available data corresponding to 4.5 yr no evidence for 0 νββ decay in 100 Mo and 82 Se is found. The half-life limits at 90\% C.L. are 1.0 × 10 24 yr and 3.2 × 10 23 yr respectively. The two-neutrino decay half live values were precisely measured for all investigated isotopes.}

abstract={Study of the neutrinoless double beta decay, 0νββ, includes a variety of problems of nuclear structure theory. They are reviewed here. The problems range from the mechanism of the decay, i.e. exchange of the light Majorana neutrino versus the exchange of some heavy, so far unobserved particle. Next, the proper expressions for the corresponding operator are described that should include the effects of the nucleon size and of the recoil order terms in the hadronic current. The issue of proper treatment of the short range correlations, in particular for the case of the heavy particle exchange, is discussed also. The variety of methods employed these days in the theoretical evaluation of the nuclear matrix elements M 0ν is briefly described and the difficulties causing the spread and hence uncertainty in the values of M 0ν are discussed. Finally, the issue of the axial current quenching, and of the resonance enhancement in the case of double electron capture are described.}
