does function coverage of requirements require a tracability matrix?

In the whitepaper, there is a recommendation to "identify which functions map to each requirement to ensure coverage". Should we create a coverage matrix to track this?

Probably not a bad idea, but not the original intent. It was more of a philosophical make sure all requirements are met.
