PostgreSQL Init Problems on EL9 #1492

During the tutorial at TechEx, 100% of the Rocky systems failed to fully install because PostgreSQL didn't start up properly and that caused postgresql-init to not work. RPM continued because it doesn't die when a %post script does.

Need to check and see if this is a problem with Alma.

Corrective action was

  • systemctl restart postgresql
  • dnf -y reinstall pscheduler-server

This has (we believe) been solved; commits were not attributed to this ticket. See:

Red Hat changed the PostgreSQL packaging between 13.16 and 13.18 and put things in a state where Pg can't fully start until the system has been rebooted at least once. This doesn't work in our model, where
