I've seen this on google but none of the fixes seem to work for me.
"libevent_pthreads required, failing" from ./configure
Tried "LIBS=-levent ./configure" but then get

checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler works... no
(didn't happen in first case without LIBS=, but got the libevent error

This on Jesse on raspberry pi btw
