The bug

It's more like a feature request than a bug, but often it feels like a real bug. If you nickname a person “John” and then, forgetting, write “john” in the search, the account will not be found. I thought for a long time that nicknames in Session were just working bad or harshly synchronizing between devices, but it turns out the problem is simpler than that: nicknames are just case sensitive.

IMHO good-first-issue: easy to fix, handy & needed by many.

Yeah we should fix this, search should be case insensitive. iOS already works this way, tracking internally via SES-2902 but happy for a community member to fix this up too
