If you're having trouble getting Jan to work with GPU acceleration, here's a tip that might help:

For Windows laptops with dual GPUs:
Set Jan to use high performance mode in your graphics settings. This should allow the app to use the dedicated GPU.

To do this:

  1. Right-click on the Jan executable or shortcut
  2. Select "Run with graphics processor"
  3. Choose "High-performance NVIDIA processor" (or equivalent for your GPU)

This solved the issue for me and allowed me to run AI models locally even on a laptop that doesn't meet the minimum specs for some other AI apps. Hope it helps others with the same problem!
