how throw an exception in adonis web socket async method

I have a method in my controller for store brand and have some custom exception for throwing error like below

this is my custom exception for notfound

    return new this(message, 404, 'E_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION')
  }
}

module.exports = { CustomException }

in my controller method when I'm validate the data and need to throw the exception

            if (validation.fails())
                throw CE.validationException(validation.messages())

            return this.socket.emit('error', e)
        }
    }

but in this code I get the below error
