Because:

  • It's not free
  • We have valid alternative meanwhile
  • Simplify installation by using distributed software

Could you be more specific, this issue is very very vague:

  • where are we using Docker CE and you want to replace it?
  • which valid alternative are you referring to?
  • how does it relate to simply installation of what?

Sorry, this is about the worker part, whatever the replacement is... as long as this is part of the distribution.

The fix would be a change in the worker README.

When you say "We have valid alternative meanwhile", are you referring to Podman or something else? Podman being now contributed to CNCF (announced few days ago) and a very close dropin replacement in terms of command lines, it would probably be my "go-to" solution, but I did not spent much time investigating the landscape (Rancher desktop was also good at some point ... not sure where it is now, especially for a server).
