I've backported clipping for the mapsforge tilesource which should fix some issues. The mapsforge backend is very low priority for me, you might need fix it yourself as needed. In general I would prefer to use libosmscout for the offline backend as its data also supports search and routing - a prototype can be found at https://github.com/hjanetzek/vtm-osmscout
