The Dagstuhl '22 dataset discussion highlighted several use cases for multi-table datasets, including:

multiview learning
graph tasks (a dataset with node or edge attributes, and one or more adjacency matrices)

But there is not yet a consensus on the changes to be made to the OpenML dataset structure/metadata.
