Edited items are no longer in alphabetical order

When an item is added to a list it's inserted in alphabetical order. However, if the item's name is subsequently edited, it drops to the bottom of the list and I cannot find a way to force the list back into alphabetical order after that. Items should remain alphabetized even after being edited.

Sort order: alphabetical
Sort order - Shopping Lists (Advanced settings): alphabetical ascending
