Hi and thank you for providing us with sumatra.
I was just wondering if the project is still under development or what are the plans for the future? As it seems from the readme it states that is only in beta release are there any plans at all for a proper stable release?
Thanks!

On a follow up, I've asked a similar question to the folks from the IDSIA/sacred package and I wanted to see if folks from sumatra have similar thoughts:

this might seem like a stupid question but I was wondering why not join forces and merge projects together with IDSIA/sacred. It seems that both APIs are very similar, one could say identical, but still some small variations exist. This merge would potentially provide the best of the features from both projects into one place and also speed up development so that potentially projects won't stagnate in the long run if they were to continue of on separate paths.

Cheers!

None of these scientific workflow/provenance-related projects ever seem to see active development for longer than 5 or so years. From this excellent review, I conclude that noWorkflow and Sumatra would be most suited to my personal use case, but noWorkflow has no decent documentation and Sumatra seems dead... It's a shame, because Sumatra has some really good ideas, e.g. the way "dirty" VCS working directories are handled by either refusal to run or automatic diff-storage - I (and probably many others interested in this topic) have had the exact same idea, but Sumatra is the first project I've seen that implements it.

Thanks for the reference, there's also signac and many others related in this space mostly targeting data science crowds.

That one wasn't on my radar yet, thanks!

Also, you might consider checking this and that.

Sumatra is not entirely dead, but it's the only software project I'm involved with that is not funded, and so it always ends up being bottom of my priority list.

I will try to find time in September to triage and merge pull requests, and thereafter to be more responsive. All PRs and bug reports are still very welcome.

I've recently use dvc. Also made a list of sumatra alternatives a while back. Reprozip might be a good bet.
