I must not have my settings correct, because only a few of my statuses toggle [Ultra Lobster and Sanctum themes were disabling pointer actions]

I've got a task workflow setup (see below) that toggles successfully through my custom statuses if I'm doing so through the Live Preview markup -- it's' a thing of beauty :) Unfortunately, it doesn't work as expected for me if I'm trying to toggle from a task query.

In the diagram below, you can see my settings (I've labeled the 3 working toggle states on the diagram):

1. Open([ ]) --> Time Blocked([<]) WORKS AS EXPECTED
2. Time Blocked([<])--> In Progress([/] WORKS AS EXPECTED
3. In Progress --> Done([x]) DOES NOT WORK
4. Done --> Open([ ]) WORKS AS EXPECTED

That's just the cycle I care about the most, but none of the other toggle states work either, just those 3. If I had to bet money, this is a problem with how I've set something up and not a bug, so I'm starting here first. Am I missing something obvious?

Hi,

If I understand correctly, you are saying that Tasks behaves differently depending on whether you complete the task in Live Preview or via a Tasks query.

I cannot think of any reason for this to happen - so to be able to investigate it, I would need a minimal test vault that reproduces the problem.

If you would like this investigated, please do the following:

1. Create a new, empty Obsidian vault.
2. Install the Tasks plugin
3. Copy the Tasks settings file from your own vault to the empty vault:
   • .obsidian/plugins/obsidian-tasks-plugin/data.json
4. Restart Obsidian
5. Create a simple note with one or two tasks to demonstrate the problem
6. Confirm that the problem still exists
7. Add step-by-step instructions in that note to explain what needs to be done to see the problem
8. Quit Obsidian
9. Create a .zip file containing the test vault
10. Attach the zip file here.

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth, I had 2 family emergencies pop up that knocked me for a loop.

At any rate, I started through your steps to get get the new vault ready for troubleshooting, and discovered the problem (yay!). You'll be happy to note that it wasn't a Tasks issue, but just in case anyone else has the same issue, here are the details:

I was originally using the Sanctum theme, and then at some point after that added Tasks. I noticed that some of my custom statuses wouldn't toggle (by "wouldn't toggle", not only would the status not change if I clicked on it, but hovering over the task's status icon wouldn't even act as though it was something I could click. Sort of as if it was just any regular emoji). I thought "bummer, I probably did something wrong" and figured I could live with it.

Fast forward to when I installed a new theme, called Ultra Lobster. I love it, but noted that my toggle woes persisted. Because it happened with 2 separate themes, I just assumed that wasn't the root cause.

Nope. When stepping through your instructions, I noticed that without any themes, I could toggle through the statuses as expected. Out of curiosity, I installed Ultra Lobster again, and bam, the problem came back. Ah ha! I poked around in its code (css isn't my forte), and this comment popped out at me: "original code from the amazing sanctum theme (that theme got me into themeing, i love it so much!)". Well, that explained why I would have seen the problem with both of them!

After investigating further and a lot of trial and error, I saw that for a long list of possible icons, this line appeared:" pointer-events: none;". When I commented that out, my problem was resolved.

I'll mention this with the theme folks, but I just figured this might be helpful for someone in the future searching for help. As always, thanks for your patience, assistance, and excellent work.
