It needs to be possible to visit mmlab.be main page using both subdomains knows and semweb.

Subdomain module seems to be outdated and full with bugs (not te mention is has only +-200 sites usage)... So this module Domain will be used instead: https://www.drupal.org/project/domain

It has about 16 000 usages so a lot better.

The config file needs to be edited even with the module.
So simply configuring in vhosts.conf file and adding a vhost (subdomain) is the best way.
