this map used to belong to layers 1019, 1017 and 1012. the rectify process always hung (ie: the modal dialog with a spinner that tells the user the rectify process is happening did not dismiss).
it seemed this problem was related to the create_tileindex process which was loading thousands of files to update the bounding box of the layer.
i have no idea how to fix this right now but removing the offending map from the layers did solve the immediate problem. this might be an issue for other maps as well.

i can confirm that this process happens for layers with more than 1700 maps.
this map used to belong to layer 1012 which contains 2477 maps but also to layer 1017 which has 1676 maps. removing the map from layer 1012 but not from 1017 solved the problem for this map.
