App Store: Sorting of Apps #3591
Comments
@MariusBluem Are you referring to the apps management (within nextcloud) or the app store (apps.nextcloud.com)? |
I am referring to the fact, that we should introduce filters of the App Store also into the server @MorrisJobke 😉 |
@MariusBluem will this also be implemented in the server app manager? |
@001101 this was this request about 😉 |
@MariusBluem but you wrote 'ours', which implemented for me that you are involved in dev |
It should imply that I am part of the community (https://nextcloud.com/contributors/) which developed server and App Store 😒 I think as a member of this I am allowed to talk about "our" and not about "their" 😜 ... but lets not discuss unrelevant terminology stuff - lets discuss the topic - THX! |
It is already mentioned in the apps overview issue #3194 and yes we should definitely do this |
I would just keep the sorting in the app lists the default order and add separate sections for app store apps that show top rated and newest apps. Is that what you had in mind? Sorting is pretty simple for the list view, but i don't see that it has a huge benefit, since we have a nice search there now. cc @nextcloud/designers |
I agree. There is not that many apps. I guess it's fine how it is now! :) |
@juliushaertl we shouldn't keep adding and adding new sidebar sections for everything instead of improving the default experience. ;) Sections which come from the appstore should be sorted by rating, to showcase the best apps. Alphabetic sorting makes no sense here. |
@jancborchardt I disagree. Rating sorting is good when you don't know what app you want to add. It's useful when you're curious and want to explore. |
Sorry, but no proper app store is sorted alphabetically. Names are arbitrary, for example "Full text search" is at "F", while it could be expected at " S" for "Search". When you know what you are looking for, you use search. And you already have the categories to look for things, which then highlight the popular apps. (Popular = you are likely to want this) Sorry, but adding more and more navigation entries is the same issue we have with the tabs in the files sidebar: It's just too much and confusing for regular users (and admins too). |

@szaimen why did you reopen this? |
mistake |
Our cool new App Store (apps.nextcloud.com) let you search for categories already, but let you not sort after newest or top rated apps like on its website 😉
