[2021 August] Password for Demo account on try.nextcloud.com still not provided or auto-filled #1538
Comments
Since no one has responded just yet, I decided to take a look at the issue again. ** Found a solution ** the "password" parameter is missing on the generated link for the newly created user. I manually added: &password=demo to the URL presented and it worked. Please verify and commit fix. Thanks! |
@jospoortvliet Would this be something you could address? |
I am all for Nextcloud evangelism, but if the demo is not absolutely obvious to use, it's harder to convince people 😅 Just experienced this issue today, glad I checked before so I could find out the password before sending a message. |
Ehm still issue till today 🙄 |
Use this and then type in demo in the password section
|
Thanks, I understand what needs to be done, it is just that this should be already prefilled or noted on the login demo page so people does not have to search around (Github) to find how to log in to demo app ;-) |
Interestingly it seems that it works now as it should 👍 Not sure if somebody did something for it or no... |
Still doesn't work in 2022. How can this glaring issue last for so long? It doesn't say what to type in for the password. I had to Google it. Demo for the password still doesn't work. I added &password=demo in the URL and that doesn't work. |
For me it works with FF. Chrome didn't work first, but if I go back and click again, then it works. Not sure if there is some compatibility issue or perhaps if you have blocked scripts. You need to provide more details when it is failing. Brower, Version, used plugins... |
I tried in Vivaldi (chrome basically), FF and Edge and none of them worked. I just tried your try.nextcloud.com link and it worked in Vivaldi. It was always taking me to demo1.nextcloud.com. This time it took me to demo2.nextcloud.com. That's the only difference I see. |
Still not working, so ridiculous. It seems to autofill something but then doesn't work. To top it all, now it blocked me for too many attempts. I certainly won't use this, seeing that they can't even fix a demo bug. How utterly unprofessional. |
strange.. any extensions used? The web-developer-tools, are they showing some resources not being loaded? |
This exact issue is still present for me and I am now blocked from trialing because of too many failed password attempts on a demo |
Before opening this new report, I did a quick search and came across issue #1392 created last year by another contributor. In that report, another report #1415 is referenced and also closed without a proper solution.
The answer stated that the demo account created does not have a password. That's certainly not the case. Like others, I suspected the password might be "demo" as none was auto-filled and it was confirmed.
Please see the screenshot taken of the main landing page for try.nextcloud.com and you will not see any references to the password for the temporary account being "demo".
Testing:
Latest versions of Firefox and Chrome on their respective default settings without any ad-blockers. Same result. Password not auto-filled.
Please address as soon as possible. It certainly looks bad from a new user experience to the platform. They wouldn't even get in the door due to a very minor but critical oversight. Thanks for all your hard work devs!
Suggestion
Update the "Note:" section to read something like this.
"Note: Your account gets removed after 60 minutes. Should the password field not autofill, type in "demo" and click on "Login". Welcome and enjoy your Nextcloud experience!
