Bug description

Windows nextcloud client crashes shortly after starting (anywhere between seconds and minutes) and becomes unresponsive
Breaks windows explorer, causing right click on any file/ folder to cause explorer to crash (clicking on empty space is ok)
At some point the icon will disappear from the taskbar but the process is still running in task manager (and consuming resources)
Killing the nextcloud process results in windows working normally again

Occurred directly after upgrading to client version 3.10.0-x64
Server is up to date

Steps to reproduce

1- Boot into windows
2- Client loads, taskbar icon green tick, mouse hover over says preparing to sync, occasionally will start syncinc (icon changes, popup menu on mouse click shows files syncing). Windows explorer works normally
3- Client stops responding. Icon doesn't change. Mouse hover does nothing. Left or mouse click on the taskbar icon does nothing
4- Right clicking on a file or folder in windows explorer (at any location- whether in the nextcloud folder or not) causes explorer to hang and become unresponsive. Needs explorer reboot.
5- Kill nextcloud from task manager, windows works normally again.
6- Restart nextcloud client - same thing happens from stage 2 above.

Hi,

same Problem here. Disabling GData's Antivirus and restarting Nextcloud Client AND Explorer Process, seems to Fix the Problem, but it can't be the final Solution.

System is: Windows 10 Professional 22H2, freshly installed
Nextcloud Client: 3.10.1
GData Antivirus: latest Version and latest Definitions

Any hints?

I solved the problem by uninstalling completely/ deleting all registry entries etc using revouninstaller and reinstalling the same version. Doing a simple uninstall/ reboot/ reinstall and all other variations didn't work

Since last Nextcloud client update explorer crashes on right click.
Migitation:
Stop Nextcloud client
Issue disappears
restart NC client
right click works

@Microlytix Probably your issue is rather caused by #6566
